Radical changes in Publication Department’s EMR

The Publications Department of IEEE TEMS is undergoing some radical changes. Lets start with EMR:

Our new editor in Chief for EMR is Joe Sarkis from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. (https://www.linkedin.com/in/joseph-sarkis-5b5345/). Joe has extensive background in technology management and was a prior department editor from IEEE Transactions on engineering management. Joe will manage the transition of EMR to an original content publication focused on practitioners. You will see this migration occur in 2018.

Our new editor in chief for the Transactions will be Tugrul Daim, from Portland State University.  Tugrul (https://www.linkedin.com/in/tugruldaim/) has extensive academic and industry experience in technology management and is a prior editor in chief for International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management.

Tugrul will help us in pivoting our premiere journal to a more R and D, innovation and technology management focused publication agenda. Tugrul till take on full EIC responsibilities on April 1 and will share responsibilities with Rajiv Saberhwal, our current EIC, starting January 1.

We need to acknowledge and thank both Gus Gaynor and Rajiv Sabherwal for their many years of service to the society and her publications. Gus for his tireless work on Engineering Management Review (EMR) making it the practitioner oriented publication for the society that it has become and to Rajiv for raising the standards for the Transactions and keeping a focus on quality and excellence in scholarship both as a department editor and editor in chief. Our goal is to maintain and build on those high standards and hopefully spread the word that these publications are inviting high quality original content and will continue on this mission as we explore the managerial implications of technological change which we expect to accelerate in the years ahead.
